Lloyd Milton Franklin, 87, of Knob Noster, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1931, in Johnson County, near Grover Township north of Knob Noster, a son of Stella Marie (Kendrick) and Thomas W Franklin. He resided in the Knob Noster area all of his life, where he attended Knob Noster High School and graduated in 1949.

Lloyd married Nina “Mitch” Franklin on June 19, 1964. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a self-employed owner of Franklin Auto Body Shop for many years, where in later years he and Mitch opened an antique store in the same building. Lloyd also worked for the Knob Noster School District from 1985 to 2000 as a school bus driver. He managed maintenance of the Knob Noster Cemetery from 1994 to 2017 and was elected to Board of Directors on April 4, 1995. Lloyd was active in the community; he served on the Knob Noster School Board from 1971 to 1985. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Knob Noster, where he served as an elder. He was also a very active member of the Knob Noster Lions Club, where he donated many hours in the concession stands at the softball fields.

Lloyd enjoyed taking Mitch and the kids on family vacations. After opening the antique shop, he and Mitch enjoyed traveling around to antique stores. His hobbies included going to antique car shows, restoring antique cars, which usually would be displayed in the Knob Noster Fall Festival parade. He loved listening to big band sound and jazz music, collecting Rat Pack and Pepsi memorabilia, and reading Hot Rod magazines.
