Shirley Ruth (Benson) Barber, 73, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Yuma, AZ. Shirley was a Yuma native, born February 28, 1945 and attended McGraw Elementary, Gila Vista Junior High School, Kofa High School and AWC. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses in Yuma, but spent most of her life caring for her family and providing a safe and loving home for all of them.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting and crocheting, and was very involved in the family genealogy.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Bob who passed in 2015, son-in-law Kenny Vance, daughter-in-law Marye Barber, her parents Archie and Berta Benson, sister Sally Colbert, and brothers Jesse Benson and Archie Benson.
Shirley is survived by; daughters, Cindy Vance of Purgitsville, WV, June Durham (Chip) of Mesa, AZ, and Barbara Barber of Yuma; son, Pat Barber of Peoria; sisters Pat Sargent and Sherrie Benson of Kansas City, Missouri, and brothers Sidney Benson of Timberon, NM and Rusty Benson of Yuma, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a Memorial on February 23, at The Shilo Inn: 1550 S Castle Dome Ave. Yuma, AZ.
