Angela was a graduate of Columbia Central High School, Middle Tennessee State University, The University of Tennessee – Knoxville and John A. Gupton College.
A lifelong educator, Angela taught middle and high school home economics in Alabama and Mississippi. Her career in higher education began as a faculty member at MTSU before she moved into the administrative ranks at East Tennessee State University. Angela’s most recent position was Vice Provost and Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives at ETSU. A faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Johnson City, Angela served proudly as an usher and missionary.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Coach Ralph Stacey Radford.
Angela leaves behind her husband of 19 years Emanuel Lewis, and her loving son Jonathan Stacey Radford of Jacksonville, FL along with three beloved sisters – Waltnelle (Warren) Boyd of Indianapolis, Brenda (Ronald) Walker of Columbia, Sherrill (Clifford) Woods of Nashville, and an adopted brother Elder Samuel (Amaryllis) of Mesquite, Texas. Additionally, she leaves behind an uncle, Floyd (Mildred) Smith, and an aunt, Carolyn Smith. Angela’s beautiful smile, memories, and legacy will be cherished by a host of adopted sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, colleagues, former students, church, and community members.
A Community Celebration of Life will be held Saturday Jan. 26 at Memorial Hall Brooks Gym at ETSU in Johnson City. The family visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral at 12 noon.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held Sunday Jan. 27 at Bethesda Original Church of God in Nashville. The family visitation begins at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. A private family burial will take place Monday in Columbia.
