Jerry Joe Jensen, 66 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the Christian Homes Care Community. Jerry was born September 29, 1952, in Campbell, Nebraska, the third of five children to Alvin and Violet (Schurman) Jensen. Jerry received his high school diploma from Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1970.
During his undergraduate education at Kearney State College, Jerry was married and entered the workforce followed by the birth of his two sons: Jason and Mason. The family made their home in Gering, Nebraska, where Jerry started working for Cable Vision, specializing in climbing and servicing up to 2,500-foot broadcast receiver towers throughout the country. In 1994, Jerry returned to Holdrege, where he was co-owner of Jensen Construction until he retired in 2014.
Jerry enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, watching science fiction and western movies, and caring for the various animals at Christian Homes.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry leaves to mourn his death his sons: Jason B. Jensen and spouse, Tara of Arvada, Colorado; and Mason A. Jensen and spouse, Kate of Brooklyn, New York; two granddaughters: Haley L. Passarelli and spouse, Kyle of Bailey, Colorado; and Payton M. Hotter-Jensen of Arvada; and a granddaughter on the way in Brooklyn, New York. Additional survivors include: three brothers and one sister: Gary Jensen of Holdrege; Sandy Mueller and spouse, Doug of Holdrege; Tim Jensen and spouse, Patty of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Kim Jensen and spouse, Lisa of Eagle, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Jerry’s wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Jerry’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege.
