Thomas Howard Yates
September 3, 1930 - January 20, 2019

Thomas H. Yates, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Jan. 20, 2019, peacefully at home in North Logan, Utah.

Tom was born Sept. 3, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Thomas A Yates and Lillian Melba Duke Yates.

He has one brother, Jack Allen Yates.

Even though Tom and Jack were 14 years apart, they were very close.

Tom grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School.

He married his sweetheart, Connie Lee Johnson, in 1950- later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Tom loved fishing and hiking when young.

He was a devoted and skillful genealogist and an avid book reader.

He loved chess and competed in tournaments.

He loved music and dancing.

His favorite sports were football and track.

He enjoyed writing poetry and has written many books - novels, genealogical and historical.

Tom loved nature - enjoying beautiful places together with Connie.

They also loved dancing, playing games, picnics and just being together.

Tom loved spending time with family.

He served in the US Navy and Navy Air Corps in the Korean War.

Tom was an electronics manufacturing manager and a master roofing contractor.

Tom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, and fulfilled a mission with his sweet wife in Alberta, Canada.

Tom is survived by his wife, Connie, and their six children:

Michael (Colette),

Barbara,

Joyce (Mark),

Shauna (Scott),

Jeffrey (Grace);

his brother,

Jack (Dawn);

sister-in-law,

Cathi (Spencer);

brother-in-law,

Clair;

12 grandchildren

and 29 great-grandchildren,

with two "on the way."

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; grandson, Officer Charlie Skinner; and sister-in- law, Patsy Harris.

Funeral services will be held Jan. 25, 2019, 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, 2540 N. 400 East, North Logan, Utah.

Prior to the funeral, there will a viewing at the same location from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at the Logan Cemetery, 1000 N. 1200 East, Logan, Utah.
