Joe Carnell Gray, 80, of Vinton passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis & Annie Gray; three brothers, Edward, Maynard & Bobby; sisters-in-law, Annie Akers & Pauline Wells & son, Joey.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice; granddaughter, Billie Jo, of Rhode Island; sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Jones, of Chester, Hazel Gray & Shirley Gray, both of Vinton; Eugene (Ginger) Barton, of Salem; Sherman (Brenda) Compton & Alvin (Nelva) Akers, both of Christiansburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe was a teamster having worked for Red Line and Roadway Express with 30 years of service. He liked to hunt, fish & work in his garden.

Joe was a long-time member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church where there will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 with Pastor Jason Hay officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lynn Haven Baptist Church or the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
