Beloved daughter of Patrick Henry McLaughlin and Abbie Mae Atkerson. Her mother died when she was only 8 years old, leaving 8 children without their mother. Jean first married to James Eric Schenebeck of Lonoke, Arkansas whom she met while she was in nurse's training. She was the second wife of Louis A Brents. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers (Austin, Merle, and Pat McLaughlin); and her sisters (Opal Collins, Rachel Mullins, Eva Robertson, and Dorothy McLaughlin Franks). She is survived by three children (Jim, Gerald, Paula), three grandchildren (Colin, Erin, and Sarah) and five great-grandchildren.
