On January 26, 1963 at the Southside United Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri James was united in marriage to Mary Jane Stovall; to this union two children were born. James was a member of Lone Cedar United Baptist Church, and the Barnesville Masonic Lodge #353 in Ellington, Missouri. James was also an alderman in ward one for the city of Ellington, for four years. He enjoyed fishing, going camping, rabbit hunting with his beagles, and deer hunting with his brother Arbie and nephew Dicky.
James was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Arbie Snider, Tommy Snider and Clifford Snider, one sister, Helen Fears, and one grandson, Deno Snider.
James is survived by his wife Mary Snider of Ellington, Missouri, his son, James Leslie “Jimmy” Snider of Ellington, Missouri; one daughter, Betty Thomas (Jeff) of Ellington, Missouri; three grandchildren, Richard “Richie” Thomas, Mindy Thomas-Brunk (Andrew) and Michael Baker; three great-grandchildren, Isaac Thomas, Skylar Nash and Simon Brunk; three foster grandchildren, Chole Nash, Austin and Brandon Knudsen; and one foster great-grandchild, Devon Nash; one brother Steve Snider of Ellington, Missouri; three sisters, Louise Lundry Fortner, Lois Helvey of Imperial, Missouri, and Rosemary Parkhill (John) of Ellington, Missouri. James will also be missed by more than a hundred nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 23rd 4 to 8 PM Masonic Services will be held at 7 PM Wednesday
Funeral Services: Thursday, January 24th 1 PM at McSpadden Funeral Home
