Nick was raised in Guthrie with his siblings, Joey and Faith and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1996. Nick went to college on a baseball scholarship and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from East Central University before acquiring his Master’s degree from The University of Central Oklahoma. For 16 years, he was the beloved physical education teacher at Hilldale Elementary in Putnam City.
In 2010, Nick started dating Sara Meek and they married on July 20, 2013 at sunset on the ninth green of The Guthrie Golf and Country Club. It was the perfect setting and the beginning of a wonderful love and partnership that would grow to include twin girls, Hadley Mae and Rowan Christine who were born on May 30, 2016. He loved those girls more than life itself.
His colleagues and his students remember him as a kind-hearted teacher who was always willing to take on an extra student, especially the ones who were having trouble in another class on any given day. His good-humored nature, his peculiar sense of style and his warm soul are what his long-time colleagues and the hundred of students he taught over the years will cherish in their memories of their beloved Mr. Jackson.
His family and teaching weren’t all Nick loved. He had a lifetime love of baseball, a passion for golf and a truly eclectic taste of music that included going to as many concerts as he could. His family has said that he was the most extroverted introvert you would ever meet because he didn’t open up to just anyone, but once he did, you couldn’t get him to close back up. The range of topics he would thrust upon you in conversation was unending and never what you would think. Nick had a true joy and passion for life that his friends and family will never forget.
Nick is survived by his wife, Sara Meek Jackson of Edmond, daughters, Hadley and Rowan, his father, Lee Jackson of Guthrie, brother Joey and sister-in-law Julie Jackson of Flower Mound, Texas, sister Faith Seifert of Guthrie, nieces and nephews, Abby, Anna, Audrey, Adelynn, Zane, and McKinli and many loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Jackson and his grandmothers, Mildred Lowery and Goldie Altum.
A funeral service for Nick will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Guthrie First Assembly of God Church, 1900 S. Division, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
