"John Dennis Hessler, 72, died Sept. 2, 2011, in Roseville, California surrounded by his family. John was born May 3, 1939, in Minatare, Nebraska to John Hessler and Lois Lauree Hessler (Fulton). John moved to Vallejo, California, with his family in 1942 and spent most of his life in and around the area. He was a member of the Oakland Painters and Tapers Union for 45 years. He married Cleda Gordon, in 1970, and had two children, Shawnna and Timothy. In 1980, John and his two children, ages 6 and 8, suffered the loss of their mother, Cleda, from cancer. Though still very young, John never remarried but dedicated his life to raising his two children as a single parent. John was a lifelong reader, naturalist, art historian and history buff. John lived many years after his retirement on his beloved country property in Mendicino County, California..."
