Dick served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He retired from Fisher-Body on July 31, 1980 after 32 years of service.
Surviving are his son, Richard (Susanne) Ballard and their children, Lucas Ballard, Helena (Lance) Fischel and their children, Ella & Shane; and Lydia Ballard; daughter, Donna Kaye and her daughter, Jennifer ( Paris) Guffey; son, Michael Grant and his children, Mike Jr., Michelle, & Angela; son, Mark (Laurie) Grant and their children, John, Kellie, & Daniel; daughter, Karen (Gary) Ferguson and their children, Jasper, Evan, Mason, Spencer, and & Camille; daughter, Crystal (Blane) Rings and their children, Landon ( Natalie) Carr and their children, Quora & Flynn; Melissa (Tyler) Eathington, Hayden Carr, and Griffen Carr; and with loving respect to: Elaina, Cheri, Christie & Lori; Malinda, Lannie, Jason, Justin & Katie and their families.

A. Scripture service was held at the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy was Wednesday, Jan. 23, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein presiding. Rite of committal St. Joseph Cemetery.
