Mr. Burke served on the Joint Committee to establish the Pine Belt Regional Airport Authority, where he subsequently served as a Commissioner. He was a member and taught Sunday School for twenty years at First Baptist Church. His interests varied from opera and classical music to football and Biblical history.
Mr. Burke married Janet Colleen Swicegood of Lexington North Carolina in 1968, with whom he celebrated fifty years of marriage. He was survived by Janet, two children, Jack Foster Burke, III and Allen Nash Burke, daughter in -law Claire Neal Burke and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Maddox Burke and Alexander Nash Burke.
A celebration of his life was held on August 22, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with inurnment followed in the church's columbarium.
