Mrs. Joann Hamil Pope, age 87, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away January 20, 2019.
She was born October 30, 1931, in Buchanan to the late William and Ruth Griggs Hamil.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Berford Pope; a sister, Jeanne Pruitt; a brother, Lee Hamil; and a nephew, Donald Hamil.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and David Nash of Newnan; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Joy Pope and Dan and Janet Pope all of Tallapoosa; 10 grandchildren, Jenna and JJ Ocker, Justin Pope, Jason Nixon, James and Nikki Nash, Erica Pope, Jaeson and Brittney Smith, Laura and Kyle Scott, Adam and Lauren Wright, Shannon and Lin Clayton, and Lauren and Jay Rogers; 17 great-grandchildren; Brenley and Bentley Ocker, Kimber and Ian Nash, Rebecca Nixon, Greyson and Grant Smith, Elle and Bennett Scott, Aiden and Oliver Wright, Abbey and Luke Clayton, Jackson Dunkin, and Jaiden, John Robert, and Jillian Rogers; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 2:00pm from Tallapoosa First Baptist Church with Dr. Mason Bush, Rev. Mike Casey and Rev. Kevin McAdams officiating. Music will be provided by M J Hendricker, Eddie Hulsey and Buddy Gentry.
Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jason Nixon, James Nash, Justin Pope, Adam Wright, J. J. Ocker and Clay Hamil.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bentley Ocker, Ian Nash, Greyson and Grant Smith, Luke Clayton, Bennett Scott, Jackson Dunkin, John Robert Rogers and Oliver and Aiden Wright.
Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
