James Lewis (Jake) Williams

Portsmouth - James L. Williams was born April 3, 1931 in Southampton County, VA to the late Theodore and Ethel Williams. After working on the farm several years, James proudly served in the military for two years during the Korean War.

James was employed as a Painter at Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility, Norfolk, VA for 27 years. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA. He was predeceased by three brothers: Douglas Williams, Theodore Williams and Fred Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory seven sisters; Hattie Pope, Vivian Rollins, Doretha Grinnard (Thomas), Ethel Easter, Sadie Hill (Algie), Katie Flythe (Granger), Brenda Tillery (Harry); two brothers; John Williams and Marvin Williams (Pauline); a sister-in-law: Nawatha Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

A funeral will be held, 11am, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA. Viewing will be held, 4-8pm, Wednesday, March 7 at Metropolitan Funeral Service located 5605 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA.
