Suffolk - Carrie Edmonds Kearney affectionately known as "Lu", 62, of the 6400 block of Yorkshire Drive, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2013. She was a retired Security Officer with Portsmouth Public Schools. Carrie was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Relief Usher Ministry, Nursing Dept, Naomi's Veil, Pastor's Aide and worked as Wait Staff Captain at Edmonds Center.
Carrie leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Talisha Helm (Darrell) and a son, Derik Edmonds; two sisters, Pearl Robinson (Herbert) and Florice Copeland (Alonzo); three brothers, Bishop Curtis Edmonds, Sr. (Evelyn), Carl Edmonds (Beverly), and Kevin Edmonds (Felicia) and an aunt, Mable Scott. Also left to cherish her memory are three grandchildren, Dajah Edmonds, Rodney Perkins and Daria Edmonds; a great grandson, Kadyn Edmonds and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 8 at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1248 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake from 4 pm until 7 pm. A life celebration service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 9 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 2714 Frederick Blvd., Portsmouth, VA with Bishop Curtis E. Edmonds officiating.
