Gary Allen Hughes was born to parents Ellis Brown Hughes and Nellie Alice Tuttle. He was married to Wanda Joyce Jackson, they had one child, a daughter named Wendy Dawn Hughes. Per a phone conversation with his niece, he will be buried next to his parents in Clarksbury UMC in Rural Thomasville, NC.
Gary served in the US Army during the late '60s. Gary served one tour in Vietnam.
Gary was preceded in death by both his parents and a half-brother, Jimmy David Woody. He is survived by his brother Barry Ellis Hughes (Kathy), half-siblings, Kenneth Michael Woody, and Darlene Renee Woody; daughter Wendy Dawn Hughes Shoe (Paul); two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
