Doris Burnett Sharp, 88, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. She was the wife of the late Joseph Henry Sharp Jr. Born in Lynchburg, on September 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harry Moulton Burnett and Lucile Bowyer Burnett. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Louise Burnett Newman; a brother-in-law, Harry Lee Newman; and a nephew, Jeff Burnett. Doris retired from Healthcare Consulting after 37 years, was a faithful member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church, and loved working in her yard. She is survived by a son, Terrell Keith Sharp and his wife, Robin Tanner-Sharp; a brother, Kenneth Ray Burnett and his wife, Nancy; two nephews, Greg Newman and his wife, Diane and Robert Burnett and his wife, Susan. A funeral service will be conducted 4 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Dr. Robert L. Putt with a private family burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. before the service at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road.
