His wife, Dorothy Pearson, preceded him in death in 2012, following 66 years of marriage. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mike Tooley of Centerville, and three grandchildren: Heather Tooley, Megan (Steve) Procuniar, and Christopher (Emily) Tooley; 7 great-grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest served in the US Army Air Corps for 3 years during World War II. He retired from Sheffield Corporation following a 32 year career as a toolmaker.
