Bonnie Rose Morrison, 85, of Winfield, passed away on January 18, 2019, of a short illness. She was born in Plus, W.Va., in August of 1933 to Leonard Clark and Edna Rowe Cox. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School.

She was a Christian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Albans where she was an Elder, sang in the Choir, acted as Moderator for Presbyterian Women, organized numerous community outreach projects, undertook mission work in Africa and was a very recent recipient of the Alice Jo Thoma award for service from the Presbyterian Women. She was also a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nitro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip W. Morrison; her parents, Leonard Clark and Edna Rowe Cox; sisters, Betty Atkins, Mary Skeen, Irene Runnion, Nancy Morris; and brothers, Bill Cox and Lee Cox. She is survived by her sons, Philip W. Morrison II and wife Beth, Jeffrey L. Morrison and wife Tammy; a granddaughter, Chelsea Taylor Morrison, all of Winfield; and grandson, Sean Wesley Morrison and wife Katy of Raleigh, N.C.

Bonnie was held in high regard among those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was an honest and reliable person who served her community well. She was a person willing to invest seemingly limitless energy into pursuits for the good of others. She dedicated herself to her family and to the work of the church, the betterment of others and will be remembered for her legacy of service, the lives she touched, the people who were helped by her kindness and friendship and the things that she changed for the better. She would wish to be remembered as a person who loved God, family, her many friends and neighbors, all of whom she treasured over her long life.

A visitation will be held at Casdorph and Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, on Friday, January 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at the First Presbyterian Church of St. Albans at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 26. Graveside rites will be at Cunningham Memorial Cemetery following the service after which there will be a luncheon at the Church.
