Ninety Six, South Carolina

A' Coursey NINETY SIX -- Allen "A" Watson Coursey, 49, of 142 Natchez Trace Drive, Ninety Six, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Kay Turner Coursey Walker and the late Watson Coursey. A was a 1984 graduate of Ninety Six High School and received his B.A. degree from Lander University. He was the Golf Course Superintendent at The Patriot at Grand Harbor Golf and Yacht Club and was a member St. Paul United Methodist Church. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Loyd Walker; his sister, Angie Coursey Palmer and his nephew, Nicklaus Palmer, all of Ninety Six. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Coursey and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Turner; and his uncle, A. E. "Tony" Turner. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grand Harbor Golf and Yacht Club, with the Rev. Marc Vickers and Mr. Tommy Pendley officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The family request that everyone attending wear their casual, golfing attire. Pallbearers will be Hunter Berry, Greg Hicks, Benny Timmerman, Lewis Rollins, Porter Garner, Kevin Newton, John Long, Bill Tinsley and Claude "Jonsie" Alexander. Honorary escort will be Zach Calhoun and the Grounds Crew and Golf Staff of The Patriot and members of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association. The family will receive friends at the Grand Harbor Clubhouse on Saturday from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The family is at the home of Kay and Loyd Walker, 412 Links Crossing S, Ninety Six. Memorials may be made to the Martin-Sims Scholarship, c/o The Lander Foundation, 320 Stanley Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29649.
