LEXINGTON - Sarah Anne Milford Stuart, 71, resident of 123 Erica Court, formerly of Greenwood, wife of David Stuart, died Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Agape Senior Living.
Born in Greenwood, December 3, 1939, she was a daughter of the late John Logan Milford and Lorene Smith Milford Hipp. She had retired from Self Memorial Hospital, where she was a medical technologist for over 20 years.
A lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Mrs. Stuart was also a member of the Bible Sunday School Class of the church. Throughout her illness she was faithfully ministered to by members of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Mrs. Stuart was preceded in death by her stepfather, James Wesley Hipp; stepbrother, Voight Hipp; stepsisters, Juanita H. McCrorey, Willette H. Weatherly, Elenaor H. Walker and Thelma H. King.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 48 years are three daughters, Lynn Stuart Barnes and husband, Brian, of Lexington, Laurie Stuart of Greenwood, and Libby Stuart Tucker and husband, Joey, of Lexington; three grandchildren, David Lee Barnes, Ashley Christine Barnes and Jonathan Stuart Tucker, all of Lexington; sister, Martha Milford Drafts, also of Lexington; and a sister-in-law, Anne Hipp of York, SC.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Blyth Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Hipp and the Rev. Faye Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joey Bagwell, Jerry Davis, Alan Cribb, Stephen Sanders, Scott Moore and Bal Ballentine.
Honorary escort will be members of the Bible Sunday School Class of Main Street United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 Tuesday evening and other times at the home of her daughter, Laurie Stuart, 121 Wingert Road, Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 North Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.
