Born in Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Thomas Andrew Henson and Elizabeth Keyes Henson, and the widow of James Franklin "Buddy" Taylor a Doctor of Physiology with the USDA Forest Service, Research Triangle Park, Raleigh.
She was the proud mother of a son, James "Jamie" Henson Taylor.
