Peter Spynda, 87, of Swissvale, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Johanna (Yanovich) Spynda; loving father of Peter Spynda (Sandi), of Plum, David Spynda (Rachel), of Wexford, Jerome "Jerry" Spynda (Paula), of North Braddock, and Mark Spynda (Angela), of Penn Hills; dear grandfather of Peter (Ange), Nicholas, Melissa, Gregory, David Jr., Matthew, Kristen, Jonathon, Michelle and Ashley; also five great-grandchildren; brother of Helen Rozzo and the late Ann Spencer, Marie Flowers, Pearl "Patricia" Ledwich and Anastasia "Nancy" Noe. Peter served his country proudly in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale. A Divine Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.
