In Loving Memory of Susan Renee Greene Rhodes

Susan Renee Greene Rhodes, 63, passed away at a hospice care center in Palm Harbor, Florida on Saturday, December 22, 2018. She is survived by her husband James George Rhodes; her sisters Linda Lee Greene and Sherri Beth Greene; her nephews Frank David Diez, Joseph Dale Gaffin, and Leland Trent Greene; her nieces Elizabeth Diez Gillenwater and Samantha Jane Greene; her sister-in-law Dorothy Brown Greene, and many other members of her large extended family, and dozens of devoted friends and employees. She was preceded in death by her mother Roma Gaffin Greene; her father Lee Edward Greene; and her brother David Marlin Greene.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Susan spent the first half of her life there, and countless, deep, and enduring are her roots in her hometown. She relocated to the Gulf Coast of Florida in the late 1980s, however, and there she made a wonderful life for herself, establishing the highly successful Bone-Afide Pet Grooming salon in Oldsmar, Florida, and also meeting the man who became her loving husband.

The bearer of a tranquil, gentle, and sensitive soul, Susan’s personality was suited perfectly to express her many God-gifted talents. She was an avid reader, an accomplished artist and interior decorator and gardener, an inspired poet and prolific author of personal diaries, a savvy businesswoman, and a happy and loving groomer of the hundreds of dogs and cats entrusted to her by their grateful owners over a period of twenty-five years. And to top all this off, her physical beauty was nearly peerless.

Susan’s family will provide two memorial services in which to celebrate her life. The initial one will be held in her and her husband’s charming home in Palm Harbor, Florida on Sunday, February 3rd at 2:00 P.M. Her Ohio family will prepare a second ceremony for her to be held in Columbus sometime in late May or early June, 2019. Details of both observances will be announced in the coming weeks. Her ashes will be interred at Cedar Fork Cemetery in Adams County, Ohio near the graves of her parents and several other of her departed loved-ones.
