He was the son of Adam Loy and Anna Barbara Cassell. His first wife was Nancy Foster Riddle and their son was Jacob Loy, who was born on November 22, 1794.

George Peter's second wife was Sarah Miller, whom he married on Dec. 29, 1832, at Germantown, Montgomery County, Ohio.

Both the headstone and the new plaque show he was born on June 28, 1774. However, the International Genealogical Index (IGI) says he was born on July 30, 1773. Both show the same death date as February 26, 1861.

Further research needs to be done to determine which birth date is correct.

"Peter served as a teamster in the War of 1812 in Capt. Thomas Clauson's Company of Ohio Militia. He was wounded, captured, lost his team and wagon, but escaped an made his way home. Later in the war, he raised a militia company and was elected Captain of the company."
