It is with great sadness the family of Dana Jay Rush, of Grantsville, MD, announces his passing on Friday, December 21, 2018. He was 58 years old. Born January 20, 1960, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of Grace Marie (Lewis) Rush, Friendsville, MD, and the late James Deane Rush. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jaeden Nathaniel Rush.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Crystal Wright and husband, Garry, Newark, DE; Amber Rush, Frankford, DE; three brothers, James Mack Rush, Friendsville; Barry Clark Rush, McHenry, MD; Richard Deane Rush, Oakland; one sister, Sharon Ann Broadwater, Oakland.

Dana was a graduate of Northern High School and was a member of the FFA. He was a hard worker and enjoyed many years of making students smile while working as a custodian for the Garrett County Board of Education. He loved church and looked forward to Sunday morning service at Bear Creek Church of the Brethren. It was evident to anyone that met Dana that family was the most important thing in his life.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. According to his wishes, Dana will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2 pm at Bear Creek Church of the Brethren,1088 Brethren Church Rd, Accident, MD 21520, with Rev. Kevin Staggs officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in memory of Dana.
