Kent, 35, of Pine Plains, New York, and based at Fort Meade, Maryland; civilian and former Navy SEAL, Scott A. Wirtz, 42, of St. Louis, Missouri; and civilian and contracted Arabic interpreter Ghadir M. Taher, 27, of Atlanta, Georgia.
The four were killed in the northern Syrian town of Manbij on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. The attack, which also wounded three U.S. troops, was the deadliest assault on U.S. troops in Syria since American forces went into the country in 2015.

Wirtz, Scott Andrew "Scotty" 42, of St. Louis, Missouri was killed in battle in Syria on January 16, 2019. He is survived by his father David F. Wirtz and wife Fran (nee Pecoraro) Wirtz and his mother, Saundra K (nee Smith) Wirtz and Jack R. Wilson, all of Lake St. Louis. He had no siblings. Services: Visitation for Scott will be Tuesday, February 5, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home at 12444 Olive Blvd in Creve Coeur. Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. and a Catholic Mass at 11:00 a.m. will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 6 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, 4431 Lindell Blvd at Newstead. Immediately following the Mass, burial, with full military honors, will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St Louis, MO.
