Jon Christopher Young, 49, of Lake Charles died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, in the comfort of his mother’s home.

Mr. Young was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Barbe High School and studied as an Art Major at McNeese State University. As a talented dealer, he worked at all of the local casinos. He began as a Black Jack dealer when gaming first arrived in Lake Charles and quickly advanced to the Craps tables. Jon had a very creative mind. He was able to start with an assortment of lines on a paper and end with an amazing drawing. He wasn’t much for television but was an expert home Jeopardy player. Jon was a fun guy who loved to talk and laugh. He will be most remembered for his kind heart and his love for animals.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Taylor Gilmore Mery and husband Trevor of Rockwall, Texas, and Abby Perkins Boudoin and husband Joshua of Lake Charles; his mother, Patsy Bradford Young of Lake Charles; one sister, (Misty) Margaret Octavine Young and husband Kim Bortnak of Vancouver, Canada two nephews, Bradley Delane Pilkerton of Lake Charles and Shelby Christopher Pilkerton of Vancouver, Canada; many cousins who he considered brothers and sisters; and many friends and his extended casino family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd DeLane Young, and grandparents, Alcy Shelby Bradford and Anna Laura Mitchell Bradford.

Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Gynn Houston will lead the service. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment services will be at a later date at Consolata Cemetery.
