Alvis Graham 'Snapper' Gunn
Alvis Graham "Snapper" Gunn, 66, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Dennis Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Gunn was born in Putnam, where he attended school, and moved to Abilene in 1960. He married Retha Abbott in 1968 in Abilene and worked as an oilfield driller. He was a member of Putnam First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, James Alvis Gunn of San Antonio; one daughter, Pat Love of Abilene; two stepdaughters, Sheila Schultz of Prague, Okla., and Theresa Gardner of Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Aileen Brewster and Vernette Hess, both of Cisco; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
