Funeral services for Benjamin H. Volkening, 51, former resident of Schaumburg, were held Saturday afternoon at Stout Funeral home in Elgin. Interment West Chicago.

Mr. Volkening died of a heart attack Wednesday in Miami Beach [sic, recte Opa-locka], Fla., where he had been making his home the past two months. Prior to moving to Florida, he had been living at the home of his sister, Mrs. Arthur Heide of Schaumburg. His wife preceded him in death last year. He was born February 22, 1900, in Burlington, Ill.

Surviving are: four sons, Howard, Victor, and Wesley, all of Elgin, and Robert, who is serving with the armed forces in Japan; a step-daughter, Mrs. Chrabot of Chicago; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Heide of Schaumburg and Mrs. Arthur Orton of Elgin.

Benjamin married his first wife, Erna M. Kruse, in 1921. They were divorced sometime between April 23, 1930, and April 13, 1940. His second wife was Martha Ann Keeney.
