Orangeburg - Mrs. Bessie Gunnells Chitty, 71, died Tuesday in an Orangeburg Hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in Gents Branch Baptist Church in Denmark. A native of Govan, she was the daughter of the late Cooper and Sallie Carroll Gunnels. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Amos Banks of Cardova and Mrs. Charles McGilliard of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Rozier of Govan; three sons, Julius Chitty of Bamberg and Joseph and Wesley Chitty of Cardova; and four brothers, Leroy Gunnells of Ridgeland, Monroe and Heyward Gunnells of Govan and Woodrow Gunnells of Bamberg.
