She was the daughter of the late Abbott E. and Eleanor Lloyd and the widow of Walter R. Mason who she was married to for 62 years. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Mason; her brother, Abbott E. Lloyd, Jr.; her nephew, Abbott E. Lloyd, III.
She and her husband met on a New Year's Eve blind date arranged by a Duke fraternity brother. She was a life long member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. For many years she taught Nursery Sunday School class, was active in Madrigal dinners, Daughters of the King and altar guild. She was the ultimate homemaker.
