Jason better known as "J Champ" or by others as "Super Nova", graduated from South Side High School class of 2005, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He later went to study Mechanical repair and Precision crafts at Vincennes University class of 2007. J Chap later discovered he had a passion for hair, so he decided to go Ravenscroft Beauty College to study Trichology.
Super Nova pursued his career as a professional master barber at Up Top Barber Shop. Shortly after working at Up Top Barber Shop, he went to become the co-owner of Above Average Barber Shop. Some of Jason's hobbies were football, track, listening to rap music, fashion and traveling, but above all he was most passionate about his career as a barber.

Jason leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Jayla Chapman, Chenelle Chapman, Ky'Aare More-Chapman and Jurnee Noel Chapman; father, James (Erma) Chapman, Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN; mother, Geri Gilyard-Morris of Saginaw, MI; grandmother, Beatrice Chapman of Saginaw, MI; siblings, Felicia (Melvin) Smith, Courdney (Nicko) Chapman and Jayvon Chapman all of Fort Wayne, IN; Deatra (Deon) Chapman of DeSoto, TX, James (Dolly) Chapman III and Bianca (Michael) Wiley both of Atlanta, GA, Marvin Castelle of Los Angeles, CA and Javentay Chapman of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Dates, Jr.; step-father, Otis Morris; grandparents, James Chapman, Sr., Earlene Price and Neely Jones; great-grandmother, Mary Mosely.
