Thomas Austin was born on April 12, 1671, in what is now Andover, Massachusetts. his father, Samuel, was 32 and his mother, Hopestill nee Bell, was 26. His parents were both first generation colonists. He is my sixth great grandfather.
He married Hannah Foster on September 15, 1690, in his hometown. They had six children: Thomas, Benjamin, Daniel, Zebediah, Abiel, and Hannah.
Thomas died on Sunday, March 21, 1712, at the age of 39. As he returned home from church, the bridge over the Merrimack River collapsed, and both Thomas and his horse were drowned.
He was buried in Andover, now North Andover, at the 1st Burial Ground. His records appear to be among those lost in an early cemetery fire, however, both the Millennium files and Massachusetts, Town Death Records, 1620-1850, show his demise and burial here.
