Freddy was born October 28, 1937, to Benjamin and Annie James in a small farm house in Northern Lynn County. The 7th of 9 children, he arrived before the doctor so they put him in the oven to keep him warm.
Freddy graduated from O'Donnell High School in 1956, and married his high school sweetheart, Laquita Lane, in January 1957. Freddy and Laquita had 3 children Kevin, Karla, and Kyle. Freddy worked in several jobs before finding his way into farming which was what he had always wanted to do. He farmed for 50 years before retiring in 2011. Freddy and Laquita were able to travel some after their retirement. They went on a Caribbean Cruise, flew to Hawaii and visited Pearl Harbor, and finally went to Germany to visit a granddaughter. While in Germany they traveled to France where they enjoyed a tour of the Beaches of Normandy. After his stop in Paris, France, Freddy said that he would never leave the U.S. again! And he didn't.
Freddy enjoyed spending his days playing dominoes at Woolam Gin and visiting with friends at Maurice's. He was a member of the O'Donnell Church of Christ.
