Army Staff Sgt. Thomas M. McFall, 36, of Glendora, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; died May 28 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position during a dismounted patrol. Also killed was Pfc. Junior Cedeno Sanchez.
Tom's duty stations included Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Camp Grieves, Korea; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; two tours at Fort Lewis, Washington and a tour in Afghanistan. Tommy was husband to Emily Herron McFall, a proud dad to Austin, Elizabeth and Matthew. His parents are April and Charles Lemesh and Thomas and Sherry McFall. A brother to Kathleen and Matthew Parker, Daryl Lemesh, Darin Lemesh, James Misenheimer, Kerri Misenheimer and Tonya Landeros. Uncle to ten nieces and nephews. Tom will be remembered for his love of hosting barbecues for his soldiers and even taking over barbecues at other peoples houses. He was the king of ribs. He always had a story to tell you, and sometimes they would take forever, but you listened because he had that kind of hold on you, you wanted to know how it ended. He shared his love of beer and classic rock with the younger joes. He just had a special pull about him. He would go into a bar, bathroom, store, anywhere and someone would start talking to him like they knew him. He could always put a positive spin on anything. He made me and a lot of other people better just by knowing him. He would have been in the Army for 13 years this October. When many soldiers got out he would say, "it's the easiest job in the world." He loved the brotherhood, and his heart beat red, white, and blue..there was only one exit for him. So in our time of sorrow, don't shed a tear, just lift up a beer for Tommy and turn up the classic rock and remember what Tommy loved to say most: "Let's Eat!". Keep us and his fellow brothers and sisters that are still over there in your prayers. Come home safe guys - Tommy's still got your back. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 5pm to 9pm at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Moreno Valley. Funeral services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #7 on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Fisher House.
