Gloria was the first secretary to Mike Moncrief where she diligently assisted in many campaign initiatives. She was a dedicated Parker County Peach Festival chairwoman, attaining media coverage across Dallas and Fort Worth.

Her volunteering for Meals on Wheels and teaching continuing education at Weatherford College were very fulfilling.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and George Eckhart, and beloved grandmother, Nellie Thomas.

Memorial service: The memorial service for Gloria will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Vine Fellowship Hall, 5229 Kelly Elliott Road, Arlington 76017. Gloria was born on Nov. 20, 1938, and was said to be the most-photographed girl in Houston. She attended Sam Houston University where she met and married Bill Hendrix in 1957; they have two children. Gloria was the first secretary to Mike Moncrief where she diligently assisted in many campaign initiatives. She was a dedicated Parker County Peach Festival chairwoman, attaining media coverage across Dallas and Fort Worth. As a lifelong horse lover, her favorite horse in the Futurity was a goal accomplished. Gloria also was an avid bowler and sports fan. Her volunteering for Meals on Wheels and teaching continuing education at Weatherford College were very fulfilling. She raised her children in the Methodist church, with pride, strength and timeless southern traditions. Gloria loved adventure, travel, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking; In fact, she was a State Fair champion on several occasions. Adoringly referred to as "Granny-at-the-Farm" for many years, she loved gardening indoors and out, canning, with an emphasis on peaches and blackberries; she had quite the green thumb. If there was a game to play, she was game. Granny enjoyed bridge, bingo, puzzles and was also enthusiastic about genealogy. She took many pictures of her family throughout the years and was always eager to share with the people she cared about what her grandkids were up to, as they were the biggest joy of her life. From a city girl, to a vivacious and involved mother, to a thriving country and farm wife, she always valued her many friends and their steadfast friendships. Her loyal, caring and fun personality was endearing and she felt fortunate and grateful to be rewarded with their love.
