David "Ronald" Millsaps, 92, of Statesville, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born into a special family of four sons, loving brothers, in Alexander County on November 27, 1926 to the late Leslie Clay Millsaps and Ada Carson Millsaps.

Mr. Millsaps was a graduate of Hiddenite High School. He served his country honorably in the Merchant Marines for two years and was later drafted into the U.S. Army where he trained as a Medic and served in Germany.

He was married to Edna Ruth Jordan Millsaps, in 1950. Edna Ruth preceded him in death on November 22, 2010, Ronald was employed at the North Carolina Department of Transportation as an Area Foreman/Supervisor for over thirty years. He was a Scout Master for 25 years with Troop 618 and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his outstanding service to the Boy Scouts of America. Ronald was a Master Mason for over 50 years and served as a Past Master of Grassy Knob Masonic Lodge. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he had served as Church Clerk/Treasurer for over forty years and a also as a church Deacon.

Along with his parents and wife, Edna, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grady "Gerald" Millsaps in 2004.

Left to cherish his memory are a only special son, David J. Millsaps and his wife, Leslie of Greensboro; a granddaughter, Megan Millsaps; a grandson, Clay Millsaps.

Also surviving are two brothers, Harold Millsaps and his wife, Wayburn of Taylorsville and Paul "Butch" Millsaps and his wife, Sally, of Stony Point; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Millsaps, widow of brother Gerald.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Byrd, Rev. Mark Robinette and Rev. Mark Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will visit with friends following the committal in the church fellowship hall. Masonic Rites will be presented at the graveside by the Grassy Knob Masonic Lodge who will also serve as pallbearers and Military Rites will be presented at the graveside by the North Iredell American Legion Post # 113.

Memorials may be given to the church or charity of the donor’s choice. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the Millsaps family.
