John G. Schoen passed away at his home one mile west of Gladstone Friday, Nov. 16, 1956, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 18 days.
The son of Frederick and Henrietta Schoen, he was born near Gladstone, Nebr., Feb. 28, 1884. He was baptized in infancy at Gladstone.
At the age of 12 he moved with his parents to Oxford, Nebr., where he was confirmed in St. Johns Lutheran church.
In 1908 he returned to Gladstone and since that time has lived on a farm near there.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church, Gladstone, since returning in 1908, and has held various offices, serving as elder at the time of his death.
On May 24, 1916, he married Anna Ude of Gladstone and to them five children were born.
Surviving are his wife and five children, Beulah, Mrs. Lewis Issler of Geneva, Norma, Mrs. Francis Tucker of San Gabriel, Calif., Marvin of Fairbury and Norris and Richard of Gladstone; 7 grandchildren; four brother and four sisters, Fred, Reseda, Calif., Emil, Theodore and Henry of Oxford, Mrs. Wm. Bauer and Mrs. Walter Bauer of Fairbury, Mrs. Carl Hinze and Miss Pauline Schoen of Oxford.
Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon at Traum's chapel and Trinity Lutheran church, west of Gladstone, with the pastor, Rev. A. P. Bruenger, officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
