Francisca María (no surname) was a Native American born at ranchería Tucutnut in what is now Monterey County, California, about 1766. She assumed her Christian name upon her baptism at Mission San Carlos (Carmel) on February 14, 1773 (SC Baptism 00061). She married neophyte Estanislao José "Tuppaí" at Carmel mission on May 23, 1780 (SC Marriage 000158). While walking in the woods not far from the mission Francisca was believed to have been attacked and killed by a bear, probably a California grizzly. She was buried next to the entrance of the Carmel mission church on November 10, 1791 (SC Death 00833).

Fr. José Señán left the following note on her burial record: "Cortoños de esta misión...despedazada por los osos, según mas piamente se creé, se recogieron todos los fragmentos que se pudo de su cadáver y fueron sepultados a la entrada de la Iglesia de esta misión"
(Not far from this is sincerely believed that she was torn apart by bears. What could be found of her fragmented remains were collected and buried at the entrance of the church at this mission).
