BRIDGEPORT — Jack W. Crites of Bridgeport passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 12, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife, daughters and special nephew.
Jack was born in Hepzibah, West Virginia, on April 2, 1932, son of Major and Eva Crites.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jo (Fernandez) Crites; his daughters, Denise Trimboli and Michele Crites Battié; his grandsons, Joey Trimboli and Jackson and Zakari Crites Videman; nephews, Phil Gregoire and Don Gregoire and families. Also surviving are his brother, Gene Crites and his wife, Maureen; sisters-in-law, Doris Greathouse, Sandy Lefever and Linda Fernandez; as well as brothers-in-law, Bob Lefever and Bob McGee and many other cherished relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lelah Gregoire; baby daughter, Renée and brothers-in-law, Fred Fernandez and Chuck Greathouse.
Having served in Germany, Jack was a proud Cold War veteran, as a member of the 1st Infantry Division, also known as the Big Red 1. He was an active member of the American Legion and supporter of Wounded Warrior Project. He retired from J.A. Jones Construction Company as a project manager after overseeing many projects across the country and living in Washington State, North and South Carolina, Florida, Maryland, Puerto Rico and elsewhere. He was a loving husband and father, and was dedicated to his extended family and friends. Jack was so loved by our family and will be missed beyond words.
A private memorial for the family will be held at a later date.
