Born July 20, 1939, in Mifflintown, he was a son of the late William Blaine and Carrie Mae (Varner) Walters. His wife of 54 years, Hazel "Sis" (Richardson) Walters, died June 12, 2013.
He is survived by two children, Larry Walters, Jr. and Rose, of Port Royal and Lori Rodriguez and husband, Lupe, of Thompsontown; two brothers, Clifford G. Walters of Reedsville and Clyde A. Walters of Mifflintown, two sisters, Norma Parker, and Loma Saner and husband, Donald, all of Mifflintown, five grandchildren, Tiffany Walters, Brandon Walters, Courtney Walters, Nick Supplee, and Emilia Rodriguez; and three great-grandchildren, Colton, Cameron, and Alexis..
He was preceded in death by six brothers,Doran, Marlin, Gerald, Blaine, Russell, and Brooks Walters, and five sisters, Helen Hargadon, Betty Cox, Beulah Haubert, Levenia Dunmyre, and Ethel Bashore..
Larry was a heavy equipment operator and worked on construction for many years.
He was a member of the NRA and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.
He was an avid Keith Kauffman fan and also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He collected Indian arrowheads and enjoyed mowing grass for himself as well as for his neighbors.
His service will be private and be held at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Rev. Bill Muldoon officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St., Ste. 206, State College, PA 16803.
