Vanessa Jones passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama.
She was born on April 6, 1953 in Riderwood, Alabama, the fifth child of Jessie and Mamie Jones.

She attended Choctaw Training School from grades 1-10. She graduated from Choctaw County High School and attended Patrick Henry Jr. College.

Vanessa joined the Wahalak Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. L. I. Spears. She was an active member of the church, she sang in the choir, she was an usher and she served on the kitchen committee.

Vanessa worked in food services and was employed by several local restaurants and delis. Her latest employment was the Choctaw County Senior Citizen Center in Butler, Alabama.

Survivors include: two sons; four sisters; one sister-in-law; one aunt; one god brother and many nephews, nieces, and wonderful relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and Jessie Jr.

Viewing will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hayden & Butler Funeral Home, Inc., 10031 Crowell Drive, Lisman, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Wahalak Baptist Church, 1177 Wahalak Road, Butler, Alabama. Interment to follow at Wahalak Baptist Church Cemetery, 1177 Wahalak Road, Butler, Alabama with Hayden & Butler Funeral Home of Lisman, Alabama directing.
