Death Notice
In Willistown on the 22d instant, WILLIAM GARRETT, aged about 54 years.
TERRIBLE AND FATAL ACCIDENT.- On Saturday last, William Garrett, of Willistown township, Chester county, met with an accident which proved fatal. The particulars, as we are informed, are as follows - the deceased was engaged in raising rocks in company with two of his sons, small lads. He had fastened a chain around a rock to which he attached a yoke of oxen to roll the stone over, he at the same time had hold of a lever to assist the oxen in starting it, when the chain slipped off, and the rock fell back on the end of the lever, which caused the end in the hands of the deceased to fly up with great force striking him under the ear and on the jaw, dislocating the neck and causing instant death. Mr. Garrett was universally respected in his neighborhood, and this sudden and melancholy death causes a large family to mourn an unconsolable bereavement. The deceased was a paper manufacturer, and for a number of years supplied this office with paper.
