Brenda Margaret Haddox Cole


Services for Brenda Margaret Haddox Cole, 68, of Tyler, will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Interment will follow at Frankston City Cemetery.


Brenda Cole was born November 1, 1950, in El Paso, Texas, and died January 9, 2019, in Tyler. She is the daughter of the late Cecil and Allison Haddox of Concord near Troup, Texas.


She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dan F. Cole of Tyler; two stepchildren, Janet Cole Colson and Dan Frank Cole Jr.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra and Brian McClain, and Pamela Haddox Stokes, all of Lufkin; a sister-in-law, Dr. Sandra Cole; three nephews, Scott McClain and wife, Michele, of Birmingham Ala., Todd McClain of St. Cloud, Florida, and Patrick Stokes of College Station; a great niece, Lauren McClain, and two great nephews, Connor McClain and Carson McClain.


She attended Fairwood United Methodist Church in Tyler and previously attended Calvary Assembly of God in Henderson. She was employed by the Ramey Base Exchange (BX), Troup Dairy Queen and Eckerd's (CVS) in Tyler for many years; along with several other jobs.


Brenda attended numerous schools including Harmon AFB; Bitburg Air Base, Germany; Milan, Michigan; and then graduated from Goose Bay High School in Goose Bay, Labrador in 1969, where she also was chosen as senior prom queen. After graduation, she took courses in elementary education, psychology and music appreciation at the University of Maryland at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico.


She held a passion for singing, writing and karaoke, and she enjoyed bowling and a variety of crafts. While living in Puerto Rico, Brenda could often be found motoring around Ramey AFB on her beloved Honda motor bike. She was known and loved for her sense of humor, endearing playfulness and contagious laugh.


The family will receive friends and relatives from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 E. 1st St. in Tyler.
