"Our dear old brother and elder in the church died Mch 4, 1899. He was born in Va., November 11, 1814. Later on he emigrated to Elkhart Co., Ind. where he united with the Church. At Bourbon, Ind, he was elected to the visit's office, and later on was elected to the ministry, and to the second degree, and then to eldership, which place he occupied until death which occurred in the Beaver Creek church, Wis., where he lived about 16 years. His wife preceded him to the spirit world about twelve years. To this union nine children were born: four still living, two daughters here in Wisconsin, one son and one daughter in Indiana. This old brother had become very feeble, and about 21 months before he died he suffered a stroke of paralysis, and from then-on was a helpless invalid. He bore his suffering patiently, and about three months after he was afflicted, he was anointed in the name of the Lord. His funeral occurred on Mch. 5 to a crowded house of sympathizing friends and relatives, this being a very cold disagreeable day. Funeral by the Brethren.
