Harold L. McKinney A.K.A. as “Sonny” 89 of Indianapolis passed away January 11, 2019 Harold was born on July 21, 1929 in Indianapolis to Melvin J. McKinney and Lillian Mabell (née Matlock) Plake.

Harold was a graduate of Washington High School and he served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Harold worked at Uniroyal Tire then for Ford Motor Company on English Avenue retiring in September of 1993 as a job setter.

Harold was a member of the Westview Christian Church. He was a very gifted athlete who loved all types of sports including football, baseball, bowling and basketball where he played all throughout high school. Harold even played on the Uniroyal basketball team after high school. Harold also gave of his time, talent and treasure as he coached and mentored at Eagledale Little League as well as N.Y.A.A. He was also loved to sit and watch old movies.

He was proceeded in death by his daughter; Kimberly Helvie and his sisters; Viola Bloxson and Lila Mae Coburn.

Harold is survived by his wife; Carolyn I. (Smith) McKinney of 62 years, their children; Kevin (Pam) McKinney, Kathy Easton and Keith McKinney and 4 grandchildren; Dane (fiancee Samathana Figg) VanPelt, Taylor Helvie, Hayley (Jonathon "Jon") Thomas and Alex Helvie.
