She was born in Duncansville, daughter of the late Raymond L. and Lillian (Berney) Baker.
Surviving are a brother, Harry (DyAnn); four nieces: Patsy Fownes and husband, Rick, Diane Weyant Kline, Charlotte Miles and Donna Pattison; six nephews: Doug Weyant and Mike, David, Greg, Steve and Bill Baker; a special great-niece, Delaney; and two special great-nephews: H.T. and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Edna Baker and Lois Baker Weyant; a brother, Robert; a twin to Harry.
Sylvia was an Avon sales rep in Duncansville for 19 years. She also was a baby sitter for many children in the area.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and a former member of Hicks Memorial Methodist Church, Duncansville.
Sylvia was an animal lover. She also enjoyed baking and making fudge.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service outside of Mass will immediately follow at
11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, Monsignor Stanley B. Carson officiating. Committal will be at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
