She was born in Swainsboro, daughter of the late Ben S. Gibson and Helen Taylor Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rad McKenzie, and a sister, Delaine Gibson Moore.
She had worked for the Emanuel County Board of Education in the Pre-K. Kathryn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro.
Funeral services will be held Sunday January 13, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with Reverend Casey Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Chris Radford, Robby Kasper, Rett Moncrief, Weston Fields, Wes Snellgrove and Albert Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Swainsboro Class of '70. The Family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M.
Survivors include her son, Benjamin McKenzie (Kellie); grandchildren, Beau and Olivia McKenzie; sister, Sue Gibson Moncrief (Lee); brother, David Gibson; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
