Born in Karnack, Texas on January 16, 1933, he was the son of Vernon H. Moore, Sr. and Charlie Evelyn Hayner Moore. He graduated from Karnack High School in 1950 and attended East Texas Baptist College. Mr. Moore joined the United States Air Force in July 1953 and served until his discharge in 1957. He was the Plant Manager at Marshall Minerals Inc. for 35 years.
Mr. Moore was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Longview Texas. He loved to fish and hunt and especially enjoyed his time spent hunting with his brother Gerald and their friend Mark Ohl.
Mr. Moore will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was a faithful friend to many. He was a loyal and devoted family man. He was proud of his family above all else. He was fiercely protective and supportive of each member. His devotion to the love of his life, Anne was a shining example to all who knew and loved him. Their long love story continues to be inspirational.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Anne Shepherd Moore; daughters, Barbara Anne Meager and husband Ken, Terry Lynn Phoenix and husband Cliff; and son Vernon H. Moore Ill and wife Nancyann; grandchildren, Jessica Anne Endsley and husband Robert, Kenneth Daniel Meager and wife Loren, Rachel Lynn Strawn and husband Brent, and Vernon "Hatley" Moore IV; great grandchildren, Jack Daniel
Meager, Arthur Steele Meager, and Ethan Endsley. Mr. Moore is also survived by four sisters, Kathleen Jones and husband Joe, Patricia Jones and husband Jerry, Shirley Stalcup and husband Lonnie, and Cindy Griffin and husband Rick; and his brother, Gerald Moore and wife Diane as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Bobbie Jean Houch; a brother Wayne Moore; his grandson Alexander Clay Harless and son-in-law Anthony Clay Harless.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Andrews Cemetery in Karnack, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buckner Westminster Place, 2201 Horseshoe Ln, Longview, TX 75605
